Comparison pylotik vs Planisware: which software to steer your projects and your commitments?

pylotik vs Planisware: both software products steer a portfolio of projects, from different starting points. Planisware, a French vendor listed on Euronext Paris since 2024, helps large organizations and their PMOs arbitrate their investments: budgets, resources, capacity. pylotik also covers portfolio steering and arbitration, and adds what PPM is not meant for: steering contracts, projects and maintenance with clients and suppliers, managing teams and holding day-to-day execution, on a single data set.

In 30 seconds

Two software products, two scales of decision.

Planisware

A project portfolio management software in two offers: Planisware Enterprise, which brings together budgets, forecasts, schedules, resources and actuals at the scale of large organizations, and Planisware Orchestra, a preconfigured solution for PMOs. It covers investment selection, advanced planning and portfolio reporting.

pylotik

An operational commitment management software: contracts, projects and maintenance, portfolio, committees and team management, and, in addition, intervention scheduling. Access is free for external clients: the client follows what concerns it and validates what is submitted to it, without seeing the margins or the supplier's internal steering.

The main difference

Planisware looks at the portfolio from the top of the organization: which projects to fund, with which capacities. pylotik also steers and arbitrates the portfolio (workload, priorities, milestones, committees, decisions), but closest to execution: what was promised to the client, decided, validated, delivered by the teams and the suppliers.

Which profile each one fits

Planisware suits a group with a PMO that arbitrates its investments through financial methods, or that has already deployed its suite. pylotik suits an organization that wants to steer and arbitrate its portfolio in the same place as its contracts, its projects and its maintenance, with its clients, its suppliers and its teams.

The audience

Who each solution is for.

Planisware

The vendor targets large organizations and mid-sized companies. Enterprise cites references such as Ford, Philips, Pfizer or Société Générale; Orchestra is aimed at PMOs, with an upgrade path to Enterprise. The sectors highlighted are aerospace and defense, automotive, banking, consumer goods, the public sector, medtech and pharma.

pylotik

Project directorates, operations directorates and executives of any organization that runs projects with human time committed, for an external or internal client: industry, construction, engineering, digital services, maintenance, administration or public service, often with suppliers. The product is designed and hosted in France by orgatypik SAS, in Toulouse. Prices are public, on the pricing page.

Alternative to Planisware

Why organizations choose Planisware.

What Planisware does well, according to its public documentation.

  • Advanced planning Enterprise has a Gantt engine, PERT, WBS, earned value and Stage-Gate; Orchestra covers waterfall, agile, hybrid and phase-gate approaches.
  • Portfolio arbitration Scorecards, net present value, investment scenarios, efficient frontier and AI optimization under budget and resource constraints.
  • Capacity management Supply, demand and capacity views, what-if simulations and bottleneck analysis.
  • A cloud operated by the vendor Single-tenant servers, a choice of data location (European Union notably) and ISO 27001, SOC 1/2 and TISAX certifications.
  • Two levels of offer Orchestra to start quickly with a PMO, Enterprise for large-scale transformations, with a REST API and connectors to ERP, accounting, agile tools and IT service management.
In all honesty

Where Planisware remains the better choice.

An R&D pipeline in Stage-Gate

Stage-Gate, earned value, PERT: Planisware Enterprise documents these methods, specific to industrial programs and R&D. pylotik does not claim them; its dependencies between projects are monitored, without automatic recalculation of dates.

A financial arbitration of investments

Net present value, investment scenarios, efficient frontier, AI optimization under constraints: this is the financial tooling Planisware describes. pylotik arbitrates the portfolio on workload, priorities, milestones and committee decisions, without these methods.

A suite already deployed across the group

If Planisware is in place across the whole group, with its REST API and its connectors, staying in that ecosystem makes sense. pylotik has neither a public API nor SSO; its connectors, which are optional, are built as the need arises, according to clients' needs.

Certification requirements

If your procurement requires ISO 27001, SOC 1/2 or TISAX, and a choice of hosting region outside France, Planisware documents these points. pylotik is hosted in France.

The other question

Where pylotik is a relevant alternative.

Arbitrating a large portfolio is the historical ground of PPM, and pylotik covers portfolio steering and arbitration: portfolio view, workload, priorities, milestones, committees and decisions. It adds what PPM is not meant for: the client, the suppliers, team management and day-to-day execution.

Contract, project and committee with the client

Each project links a supplier and a client, and carries its contract: a payment schedule on milestones for fixed-price, or monthly for time-and-materials, with cost and margin. pylotik does not issue invoices: it connects to the ERP, through a connector built to your needs, to send it the billing orders. Committee minutes are submitted to the client, who validates or refuses them with a reason. This is project governance held in the same place as the contract.

Maintenance and team management

A maintenance contract has its period, its volume in days, its catalogue and its committee. On the team side: workload plan, weekly time entry, weekly report, reviews and leave. In addition, the Interventions module (Business tier) schedules by the half day. See maintenance contract management and interventions.

Linked projects across several parties

A project links a supplier and a client; when other clients or other suppliers come into play, projects are linked to each other, including a project run by another supplier of which you are the client. Dependent milestones are monitored. This is multi-project steering with several parties.

Data the client reads too

The client portal is free on every tier for external client organizations. The amount still due, the volume consumed, the milestones passed: what the supplier reads is what the client reads, without margins, workload or HR data.

Often, each tool does its job well, then the follow-up with the client is redone by hand: a spreadsheet for the amount due, a slide deck for the committee, e-mails for the validations. With pylotik, portfolio arbitration, the commitments made to each client, the validated minutes and the project financial tracking rest on a single reference data set.

Frequently asked questions

Questions about Planisware and pylotik.

Can pylotik replace Planisware?

Yes, to steer and arbitrate a portfolio of projects: workload, priorities, milestones, committees and decisions, with the clients, the suppliers and team management on top. If your need rests on Stage-Gate, earned value or investment scenarios, which Planisware documents and pylotik does not claim, Planisware remains the better choice.

Can the two software products be used together?

Yes, notably when a Planisware suite is already deployed across the group: it keeps its uses, and pylotik steers the commitments with each client or supplier. A connector between the two, optional, is built to your needs.

Does Planisware offer access for clients?

Its public documentation describes no portal or client access. In pylotik, client access is free on every tier for external client organizations.

Are both vendors French?

Yes. Planisware is a French vendor, listed on Euronext Paris since 2024, which offers several hosting regions. pylotik is designed and hosted in France by orgatypik SAS, in Toulouse.

Does pylotik manage a portfolio of projects?

Yes. It offers a portfolio view, a Gantt-type schedule, linked projects and monitored dependencies between projects and milestones, without automatic recalculation of dates. The workload plan, the priorities and the committee decisions are used to arbitrate it.
